Wir schreiben den Oktober 2009, das bedeutet, vor ziemlich genau 15 Jahren ging die womöglich letzte große Pink Floyd-Welttournee zum "Division Bell"-Album zu Ende. Nach ca. einem halben Jahr Konzerte in Nordamerika und Europa fanden vom 12.10. - 29.10.1994 die 14 Abschlusskonzerte in der Londoner Earl's Court Arena statt. Ein Konzert wurde später für das Live-Doppelabum/DVD "P.U.L.S.E." aufgezeichnet inkl. einer Komplettperformance von "Dark Side", die es nicht überall gab. Es ist eigentlich unglaublich, aber es erscheint ein neues Pink Floyd Album!

The Endless River soll es heissen.

Polly Samson: »By the way Pink Floyd album out in October is called »The Endless River«. Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright’s swansong and very beautiful.«

Very good news!!! Hätte ich nie mit gerechnet. Halt uns auf dem Laufenden, ja?

Die Background-Sängerin Durga Mc Broom, welche bereits auf dem letzten Album und Tour zu hören war, hat ebenfalls was dazu getwittert:

Durga said : The recording did start during The Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled »The Big Spliff« that Nick Mason spoke about). Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them. That’s the song you see being worked on in the photo.

Roger is not on it. But Richard Wright is, from sessions recorded before his death. THIS IS REAL.

Und diese Bildchen ist schn länger bekannt, jedoch ließ man die Welt im Glauben, es sei von den Aufnahmen für das neue Gilmour-Album, welches ebenfalls bald (2015) erscheinen soll.



Ich bin extrem gespannt!

Bei amazon.de scheinen auch gerade Floyd-Wochen zu sein. Viele Alben aus der letzten Remaster-Serie von 2011 gibt es für gerade mal knapp 11 Euronen ("The Wall" für 14 Euronen). Wer also noch ein bisschen aufrüsten will:

Naja, und wenn schon: Es ist doch nur ein kleines unbedeutendes Detail am Rande (die Hardcore-Floyd-Fans wissen doch eh, wer damals in der Band war). Bei "Heaven & Earth" muss man ja nun auch nicht jedes Mal extra erwähnen, dass z.B. Chris Squire das einzig verbliebene Yes-Gründungsmitglied ist oder, dass Downes schon mal 1980 kurzzeitiges Yes-Bandmember war. Just my 2 cents.

Wie es aussieht, wird "The Endless River" wohl überwiegend instrumental werden. Hätte ich aber persönlich nix dagegen (umso mehr schöne Gilmour-Soli und Wright-Tastenflächen).
