Tja, bezahlt ist sie schon lange - momentan rotiert sie aber noch auf dem Plattenteller des Briefträgers. Die neue Jon Camp - CD war dagegen innerhalb von drei (!) Tagen aus UK da.

Ich glaube, dieses Interview-Output hatten wir noch nicht:

I don't know if you could call Squackett a super group by strict definition, but they definitely qualify as a super duo. Steve Hackett (guitarist/vocalist with Genesis through most of the '70s and solo artist since) and Chris Squire (bassist/vocalist on every Yes album, 1969-present) are two of the pioneers of progressive rock.

Their album together (as Squackett) -- A Life Within A Day -- is the most recent, but definitely not the first collaboration between the two. "This is a natural progression," says Hackett. "I initially worked for Chris on a Christmas album [Chris Squire's Swiss Choir in 2007] and then he returned the favor on an album of mine [Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth in 2009]." Squire also appeared on Hackett's 2011 album, Beyond the Shrouded Horizon.

The two actually began working on A Life Within A Day back around the time of those first collaborations, but because of what Hackett calls "some legal complications" surrounding his career, they weren't able to release it until those issues were resolved in court. "So we were able to do it over a long period of time," he says, "whenever we could get together. I think that probably helped. I think it helped that we didn't do it all at the first flush."

Squackett's vocal harmony at times sounds very much like Crosby Stills and Nash, which wasn't exactly intentional, but is easily explainable. "I was a great fan of three part harmony every time I heard The Beatles or CSN. I always loved that sound and I never really got my way in Genesis, using three part harmony. Chris was trained as a choir boy as a kid, and he's used it with Yes quite a bit, too."

Thick as a Trick?
I couldn't help wandering off the reservation after we talked about Squackett and the album. Given that Jethro Tull's 1972 Thick as a Brick was, according to its composer, Ian Anderson, a parody of what Genesis and Yes were doing at that time, I wondered what Hackett thinks about the recently released Thick As A Brick 2

Turns out he hasn't heard it yet, but has it on his to-do list. "I know Ian and sometimes we've been interviewed together. He's one of the great statesmen of rock. I first saw Tull at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970, well before Thick As A Brick came out, and later we wound up playing together at a festival in Malta. Ian's an extraordinary guy."

All of this begs the question, why all this attention on prog rock so long after its glory years? "The time seems to be right now," Hackett says. "I don't know why, but there's been a resurgence in things that were done then ... things that may have been dismissed at the time are being given a second chance now. Maybe not everything was a masterpiece, but there's a great body of work there."

Klingt interessant, die Ausschnitte sind für mich eher Hackett - Solo als Squire-Solo.
Natürlich gibt es auch Parallelen zu Genesis, The Syn oder auch GTR. Für ein konkretes
Urteil muss ich aber noch die ganze Scheibe hören, Auschnitte sagen manchmal nicht viel.

Naja... zwei meiner Heroen am Start, das brauch' ich schon. Aber nach dem, was ich bis jetzt gehört habe, reicht mir ein iTunes-Download völlig. Da hätte ein bisschen mehr draus werden können, wagt der nimmersatte Quengler in mir da zu nölen.

Klingt anhand der Ausschnitte wirklich auf den ersten Höreindruck eher wie ein Hackett-Album, wobei das anhand der Schnipsel mit größter Vorsicht zu genießen sein dürfte. Ich bin sehr gespannt!

Tja, beim anhören dieser "Schnibsel", hatte ich auch so einige (sound-mässige) "Deja-Vue-Erlebnisse": U.a. sowas wie: "GTR-Revisited"-der-000er-Jahre"(?!)..., oder "Chris´-Bass-Arbeit-bei frühen-YES-Stücken".... [smilie=whatever.gif]
Na, ja, eben solche (Erst-) Eindrücke, wie: "GTR mal von der anderen Seite aufgezogen".
Statt Steve&Steve, jetzt (zur Abwechslung) mal: Steve&Chris.
Na, ja, anstatt mir hier vorschnelle Urteile zu bilden, werde ich mir dann doch wohl die Scheibe zulegen (womöglich dierekt von Steve´s Shop)...
