Released on 28/09/09. Unlike many bands whose careers had begun in the 1970 s, CAMEL continued to enjoy much success in the1980 s, producing fine studio albums such as The Single Factor .
The album saw Andrew Latimer assemble an impressive array of musicians to record under the CAMEL moniker, including original GENESIS guitarist ANTHONY PHILLIPS, FRANCIS MONKMAN, SIMON PHILLIPS, DAVID PATON and also saw PETER BARDENS guest on the track Sasquatch .
Unavailable on CD for many years, this Esoteric Recordings reissue has been re-mastered from the original master tapes and includes rare edited version of You Are the One as a bonus track.

After recording a string of successful albums with Camel, Breathless would be the last studio album to feature Peter Bardens and heralded more line-up changes for the band. Former CARAVAN and HATFIELD & THE NORTH member RICHARD SINCLAIR had already been in CAMEL for some months and was soon joined by his cousin DAVE SINCLAIR in a new Camel line-up.
Breathless features traditional CAMEL music along with the Canterbury influences associated with Richard Sinclair, making for a unique album. This Esoteric Recordings reissue has been re-mastered from the original master tapes and includes the single version of Rainbows End as a bonus track.

Recorded for Virgin Records in 1974, The Rotters Club was the second album by the band comprising former Caravan member Richard Sinclair, keyboard player Dave Stewart, guitarist Phil Miller and drummer Pip Pyle. Regarded as one of the finest albums in the Canterbury genre, the album also featured guest appearances by such luminaries as Jimmy Hastings and Mont Campbell. This Esoteric Recordings reissue adds material included on the 1980 compilation Afters and on the Over the Rainbow live album from 1975. The re-mastered reissue also includes a booklet featuring restored artwork and notes by Sid Smith.

Recorded for Virgin Records in 1974, Hatfield and the North was the eponymous debut album by the band comprising former Caravan member Richard Sinclair, keyboard player Dave Stewart, guitarist Phil Miller and drummer Pip Pyle. Regarded as one of the finest albums in the Canterbury genre, the album also featured guest appearances by Geoff Leigh of Henry Cow and Robert Wyatt who sang guest vocals on the track Calyx.
This Esoteric Recordings reissue adds both sides of the band's 1974 and Your Majesty is Like a Cream Donut / Oh What a Lonely Lifetime featured on the Virgin sampler album V and previously unreleased on CD as bonus tracks, together with a booklet featuring restored artwork and notes by Sid Smith.

Go Too was the final album in Stomu Yamashta'sGo trilogy of albums. The first two works ( Go! and Go! Live from Paris both available on Esoteric Recordings) released by Island Records featured the Japanese percussionist and instrumentalist collaborate with such stellar names as Steve Winwood, Klaus Schulze and Michael Shrieve to produce two classic albums of Progressive and Ambient Rock. Moving to Arista Records in 1977, YAMASHTA completed his trilogy with another excellent work that featured his previous collaborators (with the exception of Steve Winwood).
This Esoteric Recordings reissue has been re-mastered from the original master tapes, restores all artwork in full and follows on from the successful reissues of Yamashta'sIsland catalogue by Esoteric earlier this year.

Stomu Yamashta - Go

Stomu Yamashta is a master percussionist who studied jazz drumming at the Berklee School Of Jazz. In the 1970's he recorded a string of innovative albums for Island records which utilised the talents of such leading musicians as Hugh Hopper, Maurice Pert, Steve Winwood, Michael Shrieve and Klaus Schulze, fusing his percussion talents with jazz, electronic and classical music to creat an ambient form of music all of his own. His music has been used by the Royal Ballet.
Originally released in April 1976, "Go" is perhaps Yamashta's finest achievement and also featured collaborators Steve Winwood and Michael Shrieve along with artists such as Klaus Schulze and ex-Traffic and future Can bassist Rosko Gee.

Tony Banks - A Curious Feeling (CD and DVD with 5.1 Surround mix and Promotional videos)
Esoteric Recordings are proud to announce the release of 30th Anniversary editions of the album “A Curious Feeling” by Genesis founder member and keyboard player Tony Banks on Monday October 19th 2009. This classic album, inspired by the novel “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes, was first released in October 1979 by Charisma Records. Recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm, whilst Genesis were on a brief hiatus following the “And Then There Were Three” tour, this majestic work featured contributions from drummer Chester Thompson (a member of GENESIS for concert appearances) and vocalist Kim Beacon.
Stylistically the album is equal to anything Banks composed for Genesis and includes the evocative instrumental “The Waters of Lethe” and the song “For a While” (released as a single in 1979 and issued as a Download single via iTunes on October 19th) among its highlights. Significantly, this new edition of “A Curious Feeling” has been remixed from the original master tapes by Nick Davis (who also remixed the entire Genesis catalogue in 2007) and Tony Banks, resulting in a more dynamic sounding album. In addition, a new 5.1 Surround Sound mix has also been prepared which is included on a Limited 2 Disc Deluxe Edition of “A Curious Feeling”, along with the rare promotional videos of “For a While” and “The Waters of Lethe” made in 1979. A top thirty hit album upon its release, these editions of “A Curious Feeling” are the definitive statements on this classic album.

Jethro Tull - Live at Madison Square Garden CD / DVD

Ich kenne einige Ausschnitte von diesem Konzert und fand die immer grandios.
Ist für ca. 18 Euro zu haben.

JETHRO TULL sind ein Unikat in der Geschichte der Rockmusik, ihr Sound und Stilmix eigenwillig und unverkennbar. Dabei kombiniert die Band harten Rock mit Folk-Melodik, stehen Rhythm & Blues-Licks und jazzige Passagen neben Progressive Rock. Daneben geben auch oft genug akustische Instrumente den Ton an. Ian Andersons ungewöhnlich modulierende Gesangsstimme, sein unnachahmliches Flötenspiel (er hat die Querflöte im Rock etabliert!), die spannenden Kompositionen und die cleveren, teils surrealen Texte ergänzen sich perfekt. Trotz dieses besonderen Status avancierten Songs wie "Locomotive Breath", "Aqualung", "Thick As A Brick" oder "Songs From The Wood" zu absoluten Rock-Klassikern.

Außerdem sind JETHRO TULL-Konzerte sowieso stets ein Vergnügen, egal ob heute - Ian Anderson und seine immer mal umformierte Band sind eigentlich jedes Jahr wieder auf Tournee (obwohl er das als gewiefter Geschäftsmann mit Lachsfarmen und anderen Unternehmungen sicher nicht mehr nötig haben dürfte) - oder auch damals, am 9. Oktober 1978, als die Gruppe einen grandiosen Auftritt im New Yorker "Madison Square Garden" absolvierte. Es war das allererste Konzert einer englischen Rock-Formation, das live aus den USA im britischen TV übertragen wurde. "Natürlich" übertrug der Sender die Show damals nicht komplett, sondern nur rund 50 Minuten, die glücklicherweise auch erhalten geblieben sind. Die ersten drei Songs und den restlichen Teil des Konzertes (unglaublich: Die TV-Leute steigen während "Locomotive Breath" aus der Live-Übertragung aus!) gibt es leider nur als Audio-Part, den aber, genau wie die auf Video gebannten Songs, immerhin im 5.1-Sound. Die Song-Essenz wurde separat auch noch einmal auf CD beigefügt.
